Missing Capes

Missing Capes and no one has noticed? I guess that's one problem with having a secret identity. Who is missing and why? Did they decide to retire or is their something more nefarious at play?

It hasn't been very long, but for lack of any better leads at the moment, Logan messages O again. How's capes research going? She swings her foot idly against the side of her chair.

It goes slowly. There is a large quantity of data to process. I should have some basic information in a few more minutes. comes the response.

"Hey, uh I'm going to go get a few things I'll be back in like half an hour alright?" Archangel says to Logan. She fidgets about for a moment and then strides out of the room quickly setting off. Archangel quickly flies back to her apartment. Landing on the roof of her building he slides into a fake vent that slides to her floor. Landing at the padded bottom she punches in a code on an electronic pad that opens the door. She steps out into her living room and heads straight to her bedroom putting together a back with an old backup costume that doesn't have the armor of the costume she's currently wearing and a few other essentials.

While Archangel is out Logan receives another message from O. Attached is a document containing information on several Capes. The body of the message says: From what I have been able to discern over the last year several individuals with powers have become inactive, almost exclusively low powered villains or vigilantes. The majority of these individuals operated in one of two distinct areas of Rookfall. Either in or around the Old Town docks or The Commons.

Logan thinks absently that superheroes shouldn't fidget.

When O replies again, Logan clicks on the attached document, but on the communicator the pages are small and hardly readable.

So Logan wanders downstairs. She stands in the doorway to the computer lab, turning her frown from the tiny documents to the larger equipment. She often hopes the mysteries of technology will make themselves known to her if she stares them down hard enough, but it never really seems to work.

Is there a way to print this? Logan asks O.

Logan walks cautiously into the room and finds a printer. Okay, she types. How do I get the document from my communicator to the printer?

Logan slumps. She grabs a chair and pulls it up to the printer, sitting in front of the machine with her heels tucked up on the edge of the seat. Resting her chin on her knees, she starts a message for Beacon.

Logan isn't the sort of person who uses greetings. How do you print from these communicators? she asks.

Logan sits for a bit waiting for a reply, after a few minutes a message comes back.

Not sure off the top of my head but there should be a manual with instructions in the computer lab.

Logan gets up and inspects the lab, she finds a couple of drawers along the bottom of the tabletop the computers are sitting on. Opening them up she finds three copies of a manual. It's just a packet of papers in a thin three ring binder. She inspects the table of contents and finds a section on printing.

She reads through the section and it seems pretty straight forward. Luckily it seems the pictures and instructions seemed to have been made with the model of printer installed in their computer lab. She goes about trying to turn on the printer which takes a few moments of poking buttons. Eventually she gets the machine to whir to life and goes about getting her communicator to work with it. During this process she manages to print a test page, check the ink levels, and set an annoying ringtone on her communicator before getting what she actually needed done. Once the two devices are connected she pulls up the document and spends several minutes trying to get it to print.

She trys multiple times before discovering she doesn't have the correct printer selected, then it manages to only print the first page for some reason. Eventually she gets all the pages printing. Around that time Archangel returns from her errand and ducks her head into the computer lab "Just going to put my stuff in my room and I'll be back down."

Logan starts reading through the information while Archangel goes about her business. The papers are mostly ORACLE files on various powered individuals. Noting details like physical characteristics, powers, ranking, and any other personal details known about the individual. Everyone listed is mostly low ranking and an assortment of powers. Primarily villains with a few vigilantes thrown in.

Logan sits cross-legged on the floor of the computer lab, reading meticulously through the files, and placing them side-by-side on the floor in front of her as she finishes each page.

She looks for any commonalities, or a lack thereof. Do the capes in question have similar powers, similar lifestyles, similar faces? Or are they all different enough that the lack of similarities might be its own pattern? Are they all connected to a person, or group, or particular area, or is it random? Do we even know?

If she finds anything of interest, she writes it directly on the relevant files.

The only connection seems to be as "O" had mentioned, that the majority of them operated in or near one of two locations in Rookfall either the Old Town docks or The Commons. Another similarity that could just be coincidence is that all of their ORACLE power rankings are below a 5 (on a 1 - 10 scale) but they are otherwise a mix of strengths. Apart from that they are a wide range of individuals, different powers, age, and sex. Some are "good" guys more or less and others clearly very bad people.

Having finished unpacking Archangel makes her way back down to Logan finding her surrounded by the papers. "So uh... hows it going?" Archangels heavy voice inquires.

Logan looks back at Archangel, rolls her eyes and shrugs. She shoves all of her papers into a pile and scrawls MISSING on the first page of the stack.

Logan hops to her feet and hands the papers to Archangel. Some of the common information in each profile is circled, but her notes are few and far between.

Archangel skims through the documents but is clearly not taking much time to read them. "Did this stuff come from Beacon? I didn't get a message from him about sending the info over." Archangel asks  looking up from the papers.

Logan shakes her head no, and makes an "O" with her fingers.

"Um... okay." replies Archangel, not caring enough to figure out what "circle" means. "Well based off of what you have hear it looks like either one of us fits two thirds of the requirements to be one of these people. Not ORACLE registered and unless your hiding some major artillery from the rest of us I'm guessing neither you or I are too high on ORACLEs power rank system with people like Beacon and Dr. Weird around. So maybe one of us acts as bait? And by one of us that probably means me."

Logan gives her a thumbs-up for volunteering to be the bait. She uncaps her pen again with a pop and starts writing on the papers while Archangel is holding them. She writes upside-down with ease.
Should snoop around Old docks or Commons.

Archangel nods to Logan, "How do we want to do this? I can run around doing my normal thing in one of those places, it might take a while for whoever it is to take notice though. We may want to investigate the area too by talking to people or finding if anyone operates in that area that hasn't been taken but I can't do that as Archangel or they might catch on and avoid me."

Probably better to investigate first, Logan scrawls. (Street clothes)

"Alright, then uh... that means splitting up I guess." Archangel says. She folds her arms in front of her and scuffs the toe of one of her boots along the ground in front of her.

Logan gives her a funny look. Or we could go together, she writes on her ink test page.

"Not if we are doing stuff out of costume. I'm willing to work with all of you..." she responds waving in general to indicate the new HQ "But that doesn't mean I trust you with my real identity. So if we are going to do stuff in street clothes we'll be doing it separately. We can stay in touch with the communicators in case something comes up."

Logan rolls her eyes.
She gathers up her papers and strolls out of the computer lab, trying to remember if Clementine's is anywhere near the docks or the commons.

From her recollection of the city Clementines would be on the way to The Commons.

Logan heads out, hiding her papers in the bag almost always slung over her shoulder. She figures she'll see if anything is still happening at Clementine's, since it's on the way, before snooping around the Commons.
Since it's  on the other side of the city, there might even be a chance to switch out the bike for her motorcycle, too. And claim a corner to park in when she gets back.
It's going to be a long day, Logan thinks.
