Background: Raphael never knew his mother growing up; his father told him she died in childbirth. His father raised him with an ironclad sense of right and wrong, and taught him that it's always worth fighting for the underdog and sticking up for the little guy. He was fond of saying 'We all do better when we all do better', and when he passed away in his late forties of a heart attack, his funeral filled the church.
Raphael decided to go into social work, and runs a small soup kitchen in one of the lower income districts of Rookfall. The building is shoddy, and the staff is small but fiercely dedicated.
Two years ago, he was just finishing cleaning up for the evening when an ancient looking man in ragged clothing stumbled in. Raphael grabbed him a chair and a meal, and passed almost an hour in pleasant conversation. Finally, the man stood up to leave. "Your father has given you a good heart." Raphael nodded, unsure, knowing he had hardly spoken of his family. "Your mother, she has given you much as well. You just need to let it awaken. I can see you are worthy of it now." Before Raphael could say anything, the man pressed his palm to Raphael's head, and Raphael felt an intense burning on his skin before passing out. When he came to, the man was gone, leaving behind only a small collection of books on fantastical subjects. A majority of the texts were dedicated to Nephilim, a race of half human, half angels whose bloodline was allegedly able to be traced even into modern day. What was more, Raphael's skin was covered in weaving lines of glowing script.
Once Raphael discovered the full extent of his powers, he realized his immense potential to help those in need. He immediately registered with Oracle, and uses both their information and his own position on the ground level to help his community.

===Extra Limbs (5): Two levels, requires activation (With a thought, Shade can manifest two additional spectral limbs that are made out of the same script that adorns his skin)
===Intangibility (5): One level (Shade can cross over to what he refers to as the 'Shadow Side'. He doesn't look any different, but is divorced from the corporeal world.)
===Attack, Ranged (5): Three levels [4d6, range 12"/24"/48"], contingent on Extra Limbs (Nephilim wield magic weapons, unique to the wielder. When Shade manifests his powers, he can summon twin pistols, etched in hebrew and enochian. The 'soul' bullet is not lethal, but can pack quite a punch)
===Illusion (4): One level [range 6" sphere], Obscurement (+4), Limitation (-2, can only create shadow) (Pulling directly from the Shadow Side, Shade can hide himself in mystical darkness)

A Small apartment above the soup kitchen houses Shade's base of operations. It has an adequately furnished command system with police scanners and various maps and files of the city, and it has a few comfy beds and a full bathroom, so that you can feel human when you stay there. The door is usually locked, relocked, and heavily barred from the inside, and Shade phases through, but if he needs to let someone else in, he can unlock the door from the inside after a while.

Costume:
Shade dresses in a sleek costume of dark grays and blues, to better blend in to the background. As his face gives him away even in civilian clothes, he wears no mask or hood. He wears loose-fitting clothing over his costume when not patrolling, and he wears his body armor underneath everything else.
